WHAT IS YOUR WHY? This has been a question popping up a lot recently. Surprisingly, I have thought about my WHY and my PURPOSE, but never put it into words on paper. Recently, several fellow business owners reminded me about the importance of not just knowing my WHY, but sharing it. So, here it is…Read More
As most of us have heard and even possibly experienced, apple cider vinegar (ACV) has been rumored to have a great deal of health advantages. For many years, people have been reaping the benefits of this "cure-all" kitchen essential. Yes, you read that right! There is indeed a “Gut-Brain Connection” and I am thrilled that we are now realizing this, talking about and acting on it! - As you all know, I am a HUGE advocate of traditional, ancestral REAL foods and nourishing our bodies in a more natural way. I am also a firm believer in the saying, “Don’t put anything on your body that you wouldn’t put in it.” In my other recent blog article, “Would You Eat What You Put on Your Body?”, I wrote about why this aspect is equally as important to consider, in addition to the food that we put in our body.
As you all know, I am passionate about traditional, ancestral REAL foods and nourishing the body in natural ways. There are several lifestyle pieces to consider and address. In addition to what we put INTO our bodies with food, through our mouths, another factor regarding our health is what gets in our body through our skin. This leads me to being a firm believer in the saying, “Don’t put anything on your body that you wouldn’t put in it.” Let’s talk about why we should care about this and how this can be addressed in gradual, simple steps.
There’s an old saying that goes something like, “Everything is better with butter.” And, there IS a lot of truth to that, considering that good quality raw butter from grass-fed cows is just about one of the most nutrient dense foods we have. Have you ever thought of putting some butter (or ghee depending on what you tolerate) and some coconut oil in your bone broth?!Read More

About this time of the year, around the holidays, I tend to hear people say things like - “Oh, I gain 10 pounds during the holidays” and “My new diet and workout plan starts January 1st” (or January 2nd depending on their New Year’s plans).Read More
This past weekend, it finally dawned on me as to what is ultimately the best way to prepare for an electricity-losing storm with regards to food. I said a big THANK YOU to Hurricane Sandy (even though this is probably one of the few good things that came out of this hurricane)!Read More
Huh? Well, to my surprise, cleansing my face with oil has been pretty darn successful. You may wonder, what made me entertain this idea? Recently, I have been dissecting self-care products because what enters our bodies through our skin can have a huge impact on our health. Our skin is super porous and so it absorbs things very quickly into our bloodstream!Read More
Like many other confusing topics that float around the “health arena”, sun exposure is one of them. I thought about this recently while I was at the beach. I could visually see on the beach how most of us (I was included in the majority years ago) don’t know the truth about sun and Vitamin D…So, let’s talk about sun baby! (If your grew up in the early 90s listening to hip-hop, you may get this song reference!)Read More
Whenever I hear the word gap, I immediately think of my healing journey. The Webster dictionary defines the word gap as a pass or way through a range of hills.I am writing my story on March 1st, 2012 after following the GAPS diet program for one full year. I decided to write on this day to share my story of healing - my path through this journey so far. For those of you who are not familiar, GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome. It is a natural digestive healing program. It has been used to successfully treat many diseases/conditions including: Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, IBS, Autism, ADHD/ADD, Allergies, Depression, Anxiety, Asthma, Eczema, Schizophrenia and more. The GAPS program rebuilds the gut by healing the damaged gut lining and establishing a healthy gut flora balance.Read More
